Today we explored some of the techniques that will be needed when creating effective cover lines for your magazines. We started by looking at some of the literary techniques that you could use to attract an audience and make your features more appealing. We then moved on to some advanced Photoshop skills by using the CHARACTER window and settings to create visually effective cover lines. HOME LEARNING REMINDER
The Mac server was still down today - it should be up and running for us to continue the evaluation on Monday. We used the opportunity to spend some time planning what we are going to write in the first section of the evaluation. We discussed the three areas of Codes and Conventions to cover, namely Codes and Conventions of CD covers, of your genre of music, and of the representations that you have created. You have all left the lesson with the start of a detailed plan for each part of the section. Please take a look at your home learning in order to be prepared for Monday's lesson. HOME LEARNING
Today we spent some time mopping up any planning tasks that still needed completing. We will have a lesson on Wednesday to finalise ideas and to draft some of the writing that need to go onto the CD cover so that on Friday we can start with controlled assessment 1. HOME LEARNING REMINDER
Today we started looking into the music industry and the role that CD covers has in promoting and creating a market for an artist. Most people managed to get to grips with Prezi pretty well and made a good start to the research. Make sure that you are completing the presentation - details outlined in the Home Learning below. http://prezi.com/galoao1to4lf/?utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=copy&rc=ex0share HOME LEARNING
Controlled assessment 6 of 6we have reached the halfway stage in your controlled assessment time. As a result you should have between 5 and 10 slides exploring either masculinity or femininity. I know that some of you are past this stage and I also know that a few of you are not quite there yet because of missed time. Do not fret too much as there is still time to catch up and if you need the time that you have missed in order to reach your target grade to better then we can give you this time back. Next lesson we will look in more detail at the mark scheme and how your work is assessed. I will also mark your work so that you will have an idea of the standard that you are working at now and what to do to improve for the second half of the presentation.
Controlled Assessment 3 of 6A good controlled assessment session which saw everyone making progress. There will be further chances to get individual feedback during the next controlled assessment slot. It is encouraging to see people developing clear arguments and supporting their ideas with detailed analysis using comparative phrases and appropriate terminology. Many of you have made a very good start and just need to continue to make strong analytical points. Remember that I included todays lesson in the class points and there is a chance to get extra points by responding to the question that was posted on this blog a few lessons ago. Currently there are a number of people tied for the top so it might be a good opportunity to steal the Heroes of the Week prize and get chocolate when we return after half term.
